One of the most common problems of people who work out is
the after-workout, all the more in the sport called Crossfit. The usual
scenario is that -- there you are, all sweaty from an intense workout, tired from
an intense WoD, preferring to rest first before hitting the showers. If one
would just workout with his usual cotton shirt, tendency is for him to just end
up with sweat drying off that very wet workout shirt -- a shirt that has
accumulated all the sweat from numbers of lifts, presses, pull-ups and
push-ups, etc. After this happens, if one’s immune system is not that strong,
you are now faced with a big possibility of catching a common cold, or even
worse.
This scenario happens because of our common misguided belief
that owning a couple of CrossFit shirts is unnecessary. “Is it even different
from the usual shirts I wear?” Some people could even question that way. The
answer to that is a resounding YES. Well, aside from the fact that it looks
better if a person does a WOD in a shirt specifically made for the sport of
CrossFit -- that it would, psychologically, make people see him or her as a
true or a legitimate CrossFitter and say “Hey look, he really went out of his
way to purchase a shirt for CrossFitting” -- a factor that could lead to an
improved self-confidence in working out.
Another benefit of using CrossFit shirts when Woding is the
added comfort and flexibility it provides. The usual shirt might just be too
loose or too tight. Finding a cotton shirt that perfectly hugs your body is
hard to find. If this is the case, truly, the quality of workout would be
affected -- something that no CrossFitter would opt to experience. With the
intensity level of the WODs, one would surely benefit from added comfort and
flexibility.
Lastly, the problem that was mentioned is about how a usual
shirt would usually just suck-up all the sweat from your body. It just knows
that you will sweat indeed! The material does not absorb as much sweat as how
the cotton shirts do.
When one experiences wearing
shirts like such and how it affects self-confidence, quality of workout,
and comfort, going back to the closet with the usual cotton shirts would never
be an option ever again.
If one would realize
the worth of having to shed some extra cash for a shirt that really knows what
you do and aware of your body’s needs, and, well -- if one is really serious of
what he does, this should be one of the top priorities.
