Why Even bother?

With a pair of tattered shorts and a loose worn out shirt, you could already go out to the nearest box and start WoDing.  Nowadays, no one really cares about how they look like when it comes to working out, may it be CrossFit or any other sport for that matter. Does what you wear really matter at all?  In the world of CrossFit, hell yeah it does!

CrossFit is known to be one of those sports that demand a whole lot from every area of our body. Yes, it’s definitely one of those killer sports out there, no doubt about that, and with the kind of demand CrossFit entails, we surely will be challenged and pushed to our physical limits. Any kind of supplement that would help create a better WoDing experience, hence a more efficient one, is recommended to and by any CrossFitter. This is where proper CrossFit gear comes into the picture.

Any CrossFitter would know the feeling of having to perform a couple reps of kipping pull ups and ending up with calluses or even worse, wounded hands. Just imagine having to do another set with a pair of bloody hands. In this case, appropriate attire would mean having to do kips with a good set of sturdy gloves.

In a different scenario, people may think that working out with a loose shirt, or with a pair of baggy gym shorts would be just about enough to get the best out of each WoD. This is a common misconception. True, WoDing with the simplest apparel seems harmless and to some, more realistic as it means not having to spend extra money for clothes. Although, if you want to get the most out of each lift, out of each set, and out of each WoD, it is always much better to shed off a couple of bucks and grab the right CrossFit gear – think of it as an investment.  To answer the question – what will appropriate CrossFit attire such as CF shirts or a good pair of CF shorts do for me?  Most shirts as well as shorts for CrossFit are designed to be lightweight as to make movement easier. Moreover, such CF apparel are made of breathable fabric which does not get clogged up due to sweat, unlike your everyday pair of cotton shorts. Lastly, shirts and shorts designed specifically for CrossFit are assured to be durable, which could endure intense movements of the body. There’s a reason why such kinds of gear exists.

CrossFit is a tough sport, that’s a given. For a sport so tough, we need to step our game a level up so we do not only survive the sport, but to as well excel in it. Having the right CrossFit gear is the first step.
